A young team of physicians from the University of Szeged took over the medical and professional responsibilities of the psychiatric department of the teaching hospital in April 2021. Working alongside the experienced staff of psychologists and nurses already employed here, they began enhancing the operations of the department.

Our work is founded upon collaboration, a strong sense of vocation, and a commitment to scientific principles. The Hospital’s management, dedicated to ongoing development, actively supports the implementation of our work and innovations.

Our Values

Our vocation is to alleviate the suffering of all fellow human beings who turn to us and to facilitate the restoration of their mental health. Patients and those experiencing mental health crises have the right to the highest available level of care. Therefore, while maximizing our infrastructural capabilities, we dedicate all our efforts towards scientific foundationand continuous improvement. Constant development shapes our identity and provides our stability. We consider it of utmost importance to deeply integrate psychiatry within the realm of allied medical disciplines. Thus, we believe in the necessity of close collaborative work, joint education, and shared research initiatives. We are committed, enthusiastic, and agile in our profession. We work shoulder to shoulder as a community, guided by our motto: ”As a member of the team, I cannot perform less than the others.”

Our Mission

While providing comprehensive treatment for individuals with psychiatric conditions within the Hospital’s care area, our mission extends to the prevention of serious mental illnesses through targeted screening programs. We have set ourselves the task of developing good practices based on systematic research in the field of screening and preventive intervention of serious mental syndromes, as well as the accurate identification of suicidal crisis states.

Our aim is to pioneer research and educational efforts in the field of brain metabolism-focused approaches and dietary interventions within Hungarian psychiatric care. Similarly, we are committed to being at the forefront of research and development in the area of non-invasive neuromodulation interventions.
